Ms Barnes was born in Leghorn, Italy. She moved around the world following her father, who served in the military. She attended Austin High School in El Paso, Texas, then she graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso. She also attended Michigan State University, then she earned her masters degree from the University of Oregon.
Ms Barnes has been teaching in Eugene for 10 years. She wanted to start teaching because she had great teachers when she was a young girl. She teaches language arts, social studies, and US History. She likes teaching language arts the best because it is all about communicating, and she loves communicating with people and hearing what they have to say.
Her favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, because it is a book that you can read again and again.
In her spare time she likes to spend time with her friends and family. She also likes to travel.
Her favorite food is chocolate. She could eat anything with chocolate in it! Who could live without chocolate? Maybe nobody! Her future goals are to stay at Monroe as long as possible, then she wants to travel after she retires.
Ms Barnes has one son and one daughter. Her son’s name is Chris; he is 25 and attends the University of Oregon. Her daughter, Elizabeth, is 13 an attends Spencer Butte Middle School in South Eugene.
